Video: man caught 60km/h over limit, Easter plea

Footage of a Logan motorist allegedly caught speeding more than 60km/h above the limit has been released by police as part of a pre-Easter plea.

The clip – the second of three separate incidents shown in the below video – shows a 21-year-old South Maclean man with police after allegedy travelling 142km/h in an 80km/h zone.

“Do you know how stupid it is,” a police officer can be heard saying to the man.

“You’ve got your kids in the car.”

The man was fined $1780 and eight demerit points.

“… his licence will be suspended for six months,” a police statement said.

The first clip in the below video shows the moment a 50-year-old Woombye man was intercepted allegedly driving with a breath alcohol content of 0.262.

The third clip shows a 39-year-old North Ward man allegedly intercepted travelling 154km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Burnett Highway, Ginoondan.

Acting Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said police would be out in force these Easter holidays.

“We have seen far too many fatal crashes this year already,” he said.

“Every crash leaves a devastated family behind.”

During last year’s Easter enforcement road safety initiative, police detected 1244 drink and drug drivers over the school holiday period, and issued 11,181 infringements to drivers, including 1,126 infringements for speeding.

In the first two months of 2024, police conducted 238,154 breath tests and 8197 drug tests across Queensland.

They detected 2176 drink driving offences and 1899 drug driving offences.
