A mother allegedly murdered on her Woodhill farm recorded a video saying she feared her husband would kill her, a court has heard.
Police initially alleged Amarjit Kaur Sardar, 41, was murdered by her husband, Yadwinder Singh, 44, using a tractor slasher on 15 February this year.
However, these allegations have changed.
The crown last week argued in the supreme court that the cause of death was consistent with blunt force injuries and “not a mower mechanism”, according to The Guardian Australia.
“A brick was located within 45 metres of the scene with hair consistent with [Ms Sardar] contained on it,” crown prosecutor Samantha O’Rourke said.
“There is medical evidence [the cause of death] was consistent with blunt force injuries and not a mower mechanism.”
These new details were outlined for the first time during an unsuccessful bail application for Mr Singh.
According to media reports, the court heard an autopsy found Ms Sadar suffered facial injuries, both of her legs were amputated, and other parts of her body partly severed.
The court heard that Mr Singh told police he had been arguing with his wife about driving to the shops without him, then shortly afterwards he accidentally reversed over her while he was using the tractor.
Justice Catherine Muir refused the bail application because the crown case was, while circumstantial, “a reasonably strong one”.
Justice Muir referenced several recordings found on Ms Sadar’s phone the day she died.
“There is in that recording reference to [Ms Sadar] suggesting that if she was murdered, [Mr Singh] was responsible,” she said.
According to the ABC, Justice Muir also referenced other evidence including past instances of domestic violence, and controlling behaviour perpetrated by Mr Singh.
She also told the court Ms Sadar had asked to separate from him in the days before her death.
“She had sent an email to [Mr Singh] ending the relationship with him and requesting that he not make any transactions in relation to their business without her permission,” she said.
