Police are searching for a witness who may have filmed an alleged hit-and-run that landed a pedestrian in a coma.
At approximately 5.40pm on Tuesday 18 February, police allege an unregistered trailbike traveling north on Kingston Road in Loganlea collided with a pedestrian at the intersection with Battle Street.
“It will be alleged the trailbike failed to remain on scene,” police said in a statement.
The pedestrian, a 25-year-old Kingston man, suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Later that afternoon, a 21-year-old man came forward and surrendered himself into police custody at Beenleigh.
On February 20, police charged the 21-year-old with six offences – dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, leaving the scene of a crash without obtaining help, unlicensed driving, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
“As part of ongoing investigations, police are seeking to locate the person who published a video moments after the incident to a social media page in Moreton,” police said.
“Investigators believe the individual may have information vital to the investigation.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, or can assist in identifying the person who uploaded the video is urged to contact police.
