Logan e-bike and e-scooter riders will generally need to hold at least a learner licence from Monday 31 August under Queensland’s latest e-mobility laws.
Queensland Police said the requirement applies to electric power-assisted bicycles and personal mobility devices such as e-scooters, although exemptions apply in some circumstances.
These include supervised riders aged 12 to 17, some recreational riding areas and people with medical exemptions.
Police said officers would check licensing compliance as part of Operation Yankee Surety, the statewide e-mobility enforcement campaign launched on 1 July.
Across Queensland, more than 1700 infringement notices have been issued during the operation’s first two months.
Police said this included more than 1000 helmet offences and 142 speeding offences, while 54 riders were detected drink riding and almost 400 non-compliant devices were seized.
The figures are statewide and QPS has not provided a Logan-specific breakdown.
Operation Yankee Surety will continue until 30 June 2027.
