Man charged after alleged Beenleigh car park robbery

A man has been charged after a 48-year-old was allegedly assaulted and robbed while sitting in his car at Beenleigh.

Queensland Police said officers were called to a Boundary Street car park about 11pm on Thursday 27 August.

Police say the 48-year-old man was assaulted before his car keys and cash were stolen.

Springwood police, supported by the Logan District Dog Squad, located and arrested a 24-year-old man on Beverley Street at Beenleigh a short time later.

Police say that a knife and ammunition were found when he was arrested.

The 48-year-old was taken to Logan Hospital with a minor injury.

The 24-year-old was charged with offences including armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage and possessing a knife in a public place.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 21 October.
