Police charge second man as investigations continue into Rochedale South crash

Police have arrested a second man over the chain of events that ended with a stolen ute crashing into a fence at Rochedale South earlier this month.

Investigators said they arrested a man, 46, at around 3pm on 28 April at an address in north Brisbane, following inquiries into the 9 April incident.

Police allege that the man stole a white Holden utility from a property on Hyde Road in Yeronga at about 7pm that evening.

The alleged theft was reported to police later that night, after officers received information about two cars, a white Holden ute and a black Ford ute, driving dangerously on Deshon Street in Woolloongabba.

Police allege the Ford was pursuing the stolen ute as both cars travelled through several suburbs before the Holden crashed into a fence on Somerset Street, Rochedale South, at about 9.30pm.

Both vehicles were confiscated by the police at the scene, although police confirmed that the Ford utility was not stolen.

The 46-year-old man was charged with entering premises with the intention of committing a serious crime, dangerous driving, and theft.

Police refused him bail, and he is expected to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 29 April.

A second man, aged 35, was also arrested in connection with the incident two days after it occurred on 11 April

Police allege he was the driver of the black Ford ute and has charged him with two counts of dangerous driving and one count of affray, meaning police allege that he was involved in a public fight that could make other people nearby feel scared for their safety.

He was expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 13 April.

Police investigations are ongoing.
