Flagstone unleashes Ninja haven

Flagstone’s very own “Ninja Warrior” inspired park has officially opened, sparking the beginning of an inaugural competition for locals.

The new Latitude Park, designed by local teens who aspire to be Ninja Warrior stars, features seven obstacles, all inspired by the show.

According to Peet, a development company that built the park, more than 300 families attended the park’s launch event.

The opening consisted of a course demonstration led by local Ninja Warrior stars Emma Teede and her son Kobe, which was followed by the first inaugural Flagstone Ninja Pro competition.

The competition required competitors to complete 70m-long obstacle course in the fastest time.

The course includes a Double Turbo Challenge, a Jump Pod Set, Over Under Bars, a Double Overhead Ladder, a Balance Beam, Combi Steps, a Square pull-up station and a Vertical Net – designed to test users’ agility, balance, coordination, and speed.

Local teens Trent Kozlowski and Kobe Teede were crowned the winners.

Mr Teede’s mum, Emma, said she hoped the new competition continued in future years.

“The Flagstone Ninja Pro competition is a great initiative – the more people who can get outside,
get fit and create that sense of community amongst both the sport and the region, the better,” Ms Teede said.

“We want to see the sport gain visibility and become part of the Olympics [and] the push for that begins here at a grassroots level.

“Facilities like Latitude Park help to lift the profile and exposure to our sport giving the young and young-at-heart a place to test their skills and learn more about obstacle sports.

“It is inspiring to think that the athletes of tomorrow could be taking to the Latitude Park course today. Encouraging this enthusiasm within the community is so important, especially as obstacle sports grow in popularity and professional recognition.”

Ms Teede is the president of Obstacle Australia, which is leading the campaign to introduce obstacle sports to the Olympics.

Peet’s Flagstone Project Director, Troy Thompson, said the new park was a world-class amenity.

“As Flagstone is one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland, we’re committed to ensuring the continued development of unique amenities like Latitude Park, as they’re great places for locals to come together and get active,” Mr Thompson said.

“It was great to see so many people giving the course a go and enjoying the fun, skill, and community spirit.

“It’s a real showcase of what makes Flagstone the great community it is.”

The park also includes sensory equipment, a shaded play area, barbecues, tables, and benches.
