A Daisy Hill man has been linked to an alleged drug trafficking plot.
The man, 39, was staying in a unit in South Brisbane where police allege he was caught with several kilograms of meth and cocaine.
At around 11.30pm on 11 April, police allege they saw the man leaving the unit and walking down the street.
“As police attempted to arrest him, he allegedly ran a short distance before being taken into custody,” a police statement read.
“A search warrant was subsequently executed at the unit, where a woman was located and arrested.”
Officers allegedly found around 6.5 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 1.6 kilograms of cocaine and 8 litres of GBL during a search of the unit.
They allege to have also found a large amount of Australian currency, various drug paraphernalia and encrypted mobile phones.
The Daisy Hill man has been charged with several drug related crimes, as well as obstructing a police officer.
The woman who was allegedly found at the apartment, a 35-year-old Greenslopes woman, has been charged with a multitude of drug offences.
Both are due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on 12 May.
Acting Detective Inspector Daniel Cunningham said the arrests were the result of a focused operation targeting the supply of dangerous drugs into the Logan community.
“This is a significant seizure that demonstrates our commitment to disrupting the distribution of dangerous drugs and protecting the community from the harm they cause,” Acting Detective Inspector Cunningham said.
“Our Tactical Crime Squad officers are relentless in their pursuit of those who seek to profit from the misery of drug use.
“This operation sends a strong message – if you traffic dangerous drugs, expect a visit from police.”
