Police have confirmed that two shootings which happened just hours apart over the weekend were unrelated incidents.
Logan District Detective Inspector Nicola Brown said the first incident, at about 3.30pm at Crestmead, was an argument over the ownership of a motorcycle.
She said it was very concerning that someone would pull a weapon on an unarmed person.
A shot – from what police believe to be a rifle or .22 – was fired, hitting a 58-year-old woman in the face.
She is still in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Inspector Brown said she had been able to provide a statement to police.
The offender is still on the run, and the car he was driving was a Mazda CX9.
The reason for the second incident, at around 9pm at Eagleby, was less clear.
Inspector Brown said an argument too place at a Cowper Avenue front yard where a man was with his dog. It is not known what the argument was about, however at least one shot was fired and the man was hit in the face with pellets from a shotgun.
A nearby fence was damaged.
“Any violence in the community of this nature is of serious concern,” Inspector Brown said.
Police have asked for any witnesses, or people with dashcam footage of either incident, to come forward.
Detective Inspector Brown was speaking at a press conference in Logan at 11am.
