The artworks of almost 300 local school students are now on exhibition at the Logan gallery.
With inspirations ranging from family to ancient mythology, some local high schoolers are showcasing their work for the second time.
Park Ridge State High School students Mackenzie Tait from North Maclean, Sienna Considine from Greenbank and Xin Weng from Regents Park all have pieces displayed in The Artwaves 2024.
Each of the students have previously exhibited at Artwaves and said they were excited about getting a second shot.
Ms Tait’s work is a painting based on an old photograph of her mum, Lorraine, and late grandmother, Alice.
“I love family and generally paint people I know,” she said.
Ms Considine said she was inspired by mythology and experimented with colour palettes and different mediums.
One of her paintings took six months to complete.
Ms Weng is currently undertaking a drawing course at Griffith University.
She said she explored subtle colour combinations and used different layering techniques in her artworks.
The exhibition is currently in its 32nd year and features student artworks from 31 schools across Logan and surrounding suburbs.
It will run at the Logan Art Gallery until Saturday 19 October.
The works by students from grades seven to 12 are selected by local visual arts teachers in conjunction with gallery staff.
The gallery is open from 10am to 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday. Entry is free.
