Fans of Samoa’s rugby league stars are in for a treat this month, with the nation’s sports organisation announcing a “fan day” in Logan.
Thousands of local Samoans and league fans are expected to attend the event, which will be held at the Kingston Butter Factory on 21 October.
In a statement, Rugby League Samoa said the event aimed to “build excitement” ahead of the Pacific Championship clash against Tonga, and showcase the talent and pride of both the Fetu and Toa Samoa squads.
The Fan Day will feature live performances, cultural entertainment, traditional food vendors, and appearances from some of Samoa’s top rugby league stars.
“This Fan Day is more than an event – it’s a celebration of who we are,” Rugby League Samoa general manager Hanan Laban said.
“It’s about uniting families, showcasing talent, and igniting pride across our communities during the Pacific Championships.”
“The most common language other than English spoken in the homes of Logan is Samoan, so it just makes sense for the Samoan men’s and women’s rugby league teams to be welcomed by our city,” mayor Jon Raven said.
“We love rugby league in Logan and our community will be eager to fire up their heroes before the teams play in Brisbane on October 26.
“This follows the passion we saw from the 5000 One New Zealand Warriors supporters at their fan day in Logan a couple of months ago.”
