Police will use double jeopardy laws for the second time in state history following the arrest of a man.
The man was arrested Tuesday (April 25) by Logan detectives in relation to a 2009 murder.
Detectives re-opened the investigation after they received fresh and compelling evidence last December.
The arrest marks the second time in Queensland that the double jeopardy legislation will be exercised.
Double jeopardy laws enable a previously acquitted person to be retried for the offence of murder.
Application for the retrial will be made to the Queensland Court of Appeal.
Queensland police said no more information can, at this time, be disclosed.
