Laurie Koranski appointed new deputy mayor

Councillor Laurie Koranski has been appointed Deputy Mayor of the City of Logan following a one year stint by councillor Natalie Willcocks.

The appointment, effective immediately, was made after a secret ballot undertaken at today’s Ordinary Council meeting.

Cr Willcocks was only serving one year of the 2020-24 term (that Cr Koranski will complete), as per the Local Government Act 2009 requirements.

Cr Koranski has resigned as chairperson of the City Lifestyle Committee, and the position will be filled next month.

She said her new role was an honour bestowed upon few people.

“Our city is moving forward, and we’re privileged to be leaders of not just a good city but a great city,” Cr Koranski said.

“By working together over the past three years, we’ve seen Logan prosper through the COVID-19 pandemic and flooding, and we’ll continue to do so.

“We have a steady, reliable and focused Councillor team.”
