Yarrabilba’s Ashleigh Easton is a strong and determined mum of two, battling major health issues after a car accident last year – she is one of the amazing mums we are celebrating this Mother’s Day.
Mrs Easton started her career as an aged care coordinator in 2024 but had to give up work last year due to injuries she sustained in a car accident.
“I was in an accident on the way to work in March of 2025,” she said.
“This accident has forever shaped the future and lives of our little family.
“I am still currently under close watch from multiple physicians with continuous rehabilitation.”
Mrs Easton said the past 12 months had been a struggle.
“My inability to speak, walk, drive … relapses ending in hospital, doing basic day to day things we tend to take for granted has put extra pressure on my husband and our girls,” she said.
“As a mum, coming to terms with my limitations has been overwhelming and that’s a struggle I live with on a daily basis.”
Mrs Easton said she was grateful to her husband and daughters for always being there.
“My daughters (14 and 16) are very capable to fend for themselves which on occasions when tired they can lend a hand around the house,” she said.
“I am very fortunate to have a husband who will do anything for our little family, so even with my injuries and limited driving capacity, he would help with any appointments that come about.
“At the moment I am living one day at a time and that’s all I can do.”
For anyone suffering from health problems or in a similar situation to Mrs Easton, she has some advice for you.
“Be kind to yourself,” she said.
“We are all doing the best we can, one step at a time.
“Love deeply, hug your babies and do what makes you happy. I’d also say most of all, don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
