Logan City has been given more than $1 million to support public art projects in the area.
The funding, gifted by the Australian government, will go towards helping artists create public art and architecture projects that “enhance the liveability of the region”.
The government siad the initiative would “maximise opportunities” for First Nations artists, artists with a disability, and those from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
South-east Queensland are sharing a total of $10 million to fund the initiative.
The Minister for Cities, Senator Jenny McAllister, said investing in public art and architecture made cities “more liveable and beautiful”.
“… while also creating places to bring our communities together,” she said.
“One in seven Australians calls South East Queensland home – a region which is vibrant, culturally rich and reflects our diversity as a nation.
“I can’t wait to see how that is represented in our public spaces through this program.
“We’re working closely with our state and local government partners to deliver initiatives that support local communities and provide a high quality of life.”
