Logan train customers travelling this April are being told to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, as major track closures take place across Southeast Queensland from this Friday 3 (Good Friday) to Sunday 26 April.
The closures will allow track work and construction to be undertaken on a number of projects across south-east Queensland, such as the Logan to Gold Coast Faster Rail, Loganlea Station Relocation, Cross River Rail works, Queensland Train Manufacturing Program, European Train Control System and the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade Stage 1, as well as general track maintenance.
From Friday 3 to Saturday 11 April, there will be major track closures affecting Gold Coast and Beenleigh Lines, as well as Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Redcliffe, Doomben, Shorncliffe and Airport lines.
From Sunday 12 to Sunday 26 April, track closures will continue on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines, with minor service alterations on other lines.
Acting Head of Translink Dean Helm said the works were part of building a better rail network for generations to come.
“These track closures allow important work to be undertaken on a number of projects that are critical to expanding and improving our rail network,” he said.
“We understand extended track closures can be an inconvenience to customers and this is why we have coordinated work across multiple projects to be undertaken at the same time to help minimise the period of the disruption.
“While there is never a good time for track closures, conducting this work over the school holiday period reduces the impact, as less customers travel on the network at this time.
“I encourage you to plan ahead, consider your transport options, and allow plenty of travel time,” Mr Helm said.
Rail replacement buses will be available, including express and all-stops services, as well as regular bus services, to help customers complete their journeys.
