A Shailer Park family’s home has been flooded after a water main burst outside their home.
It is understood the pressure of the burst main split the concrete footpath in front of a Plantain Road property on Friday, gushing water down the street towards the Hyperdome.
The broken footpath removed any access to the property’s sloped driveway, and a worker on-site said the house itself was impacted by the water.
Seqwater said emergency contractors were on-site assessing the situation to determine what needed repairing.
“Seqwater is also offering assistance to impacted residents, including temporary accommodation,” a statement said.
“Repairs are expected to commence this afternoon and continue into the weekend. Partial lane or road closures may be experienced during this time.
“Seqwater crews are working around the clock to resolve the incident.”
Seqwater said there were no impacts to local water supply, but they were monitoring local reservoir levels.
“… and operating the SEQ Water Grid, including the Mount Crosby East and West Bank Water Treatment Plants, to manage supply continuity.
“Through the SEQ Water Grid, treated drinking water can be moved around the region as required via 600 kilometres of interconnected pipelines.
“Seqwater is working with the Water Service Providers in the area.”
