Shed charm, big appeal

This Mundoolun home might look like a humble shed house from the outside, but from the inside, it has the “wow” factor.

64-80 Beattie Road is a 1.42ha corner block located on a quiet cul-de-sac.

Despite its size and “beautiful” location in the heart of Logan wildlife, the property recently sold for $838,000.

This was a “bargain” sales agent Sam Spedding said didn’t come around often.

“It’s one of those properties that everybody wanted,” she said.

“If we had ten of them, I could have sold it over and over again because it’s under $1 million.”

She said “anything on land under $1 million” was snatched up quickly.

While it is a relatively small house that was built in 2006, Ms Spedding said it offered so much more.

“When you walk in, because of its open plan, it looks huge,” she said.

“It’s great for younger people looking to get into the market because it’s under $1 million.

“And if you decided to have kids, you can still have two extra bedrooms if you wanted to -you could make upstairs the master suite or turn it into two bedrooms.”

She said the smaller size of the house added to its appeal.

“People want smaller and they want land,” she said.

“They want elbow room, but they don’t need the big house.

“I’ve seen it pretty much everywhere – people are realising they don’t need a really big house when it’s just the two of them.”

The home features a large, modern wet bathroom so you don’t need to worry about “knocking your elbow on the side of the shower”.

Bamboo flooring is throughout, apart from the bedrooms which are carpeted, with timber features appearing in several rooms.

The kitchen includes hardwood benchtops and a farmhouse sink.

There is a fireplace, verandas on both sides of the house, and a two-spot car port.

Ms Spedding said the local wildlife was a highlight and included kangaroos, wallabies, possums, and a variety of birds.

Being a corner block, the property holds two addresses on one title.

“You could even split the block, but most people wouldn’t want to,” Ms Spedding said.
