Greenbank Services Club wins big, with community program leading the way

Greenbank Services Club has taken top honours at this year’s Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence, winning six awards, including a major prize for its community work.

More than 1000 people attended the gala event at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre last week, where the Greenbank Services Club was named the most awarded club of the night.

At the centre of its success is the club’s Together We Rise program.

The initiative supports local students, funds training for carers and contributes to grassroots organisations.

The program began during the COVID-19 pandemic and is funded through everyday spending at the club.

Proceeds from meals, memberships and selected products are redirected into community support.

So far, it has helped fund bursaries for 50 students across four schools and contributed more than $100,000 to local groups.

General manager Tim Wright said the program was designed to respond directly to community needs.

“Investing in Logan’s future is deeply embedded in our club’s identity, and this program continues to deliver meaningful, lasting change for locals,” Mr Wright said.

“From an initial idea, we had discussions with local schools, community partners, and
staff.”

Mr Wright said the program focused on three areas that were identified as community priorities, including education, health and grassroots support.”

“These focuses were identified through direct engagement with local schools, community
organisations and families, highlighting gaps in access to opportunity, financial hardship, and a need for inclusive support systems,” he said.

The club also won Large Club of the Year and picked up awards for redevelopment and dining.

Mr Wright was named Club Manager of the Year.

Clubs Queensland CEO Kelly Egan said the awards highlight the role clubs play beyond hospitality.

“These are among the many Queensland community clubs that step up and really make a
difference in their community,” Mr Egan said.

“This is what sets them apart in the hospitality market – their charter to support the members who support them, be it through sports programs, grants, fundraisers or creating an environment for members to really connect with others.

“The Clubs Queensland Awards, now in their 27th year, give us that opportunity to say you’re doing a great job and we really value the service you provide to your members.”

Across Queensland, more than 1000 clubs contribute hundreds of millions of dollars to local communities each year.
