There’s a man at Cornubia, aged 25, spending plenty of time at his gaming console, getting famous and making a motza.

Lachlan Power plays Fortnite for a living, and he’s just been rewarded with the ultimate gamer’s prize – he is officially part of the game.

Players can now play the game as him.

Lachlan has more than 14 million followers of his Youtube channel which consists of videos of him playing various facets of the game. His YouTube channel was in 2019 the first to reach 10 million followers.

Each of the videos, some up to half an hour long, have up to 39 million views. In total, that’s four and a half billion views.

Lachlan revealed his costume – known in Fortnite land as a “skin” – on Wednesday, and played his first game as himself on Friday. The “skin reveal” video has 3.9 million views, and his first game as himself has 3.1 views – not bad for two days.

The costume will be available in-game this Friday.

The Cornubia-based celebrity started creating Minecraft and Pokemon videos as a side hobby while attending university.

It fast became his full-time job.

He’s played at competitive e-Gaming events around the world, and played with the likes of actor Robbie Amell (The DUFF, When We First Met).

He signed an exclusive deal with YouTube last October and has his own lifestyle apparel brand PWR Supply, and esports team, Team PWR.

Lachlan is the second Australian to join the Fortnite Icon Series, next to gaming content creator “Loserfruit”.

“Fortnite has been a big part of my success and I have wanted to collaborate with them for a while because they’re one of the most successful video games in the world,” said Lachlan. “I am very grateful to Epic Games for this opportunity and look forward to wearing my Outfit in my future Fortnite content.”

Other bits and pieces of wearable content, inspired by Lachlan, will be available to gamers.

“I wanted the outfit to feel powerful by incorporating energy and electricity elements whilst drawing on aspects from streetwear apparel culture,” he said.

Epic Games director Jess Frucht said: “Lachlan’s been a supporter of Fortnite from launch, and he’s built a dedicated following who love watching him play online and at physical events, from the Fortnite World Cup to the Australian Open Fortnite Summer Smash. We’re excited to have him join the series.”
