Forde left out of budget sweeteners

IF All Labor intend to do is dig Australia into an inflationary hole, it’d be nice if the Forde electorate at least got a few sugar hits to compensate it.

We saw the Labor Albanese government hand down its Budget on May 14.

There was scant sign of Forde in any of the line items.

One measly mention of note – funds to relocate the Loganlea Station.

I wrote to Treasurer Chalmers with 12 projects of priority.

None of them got a sniff of any funding.

That’s not to say that there is only a dozen projects worth funding across Forde – that list is colossal.

Frankly though, it all came as little surprise.

Labor’s spending is out of control, but are the people on the ground and the people of Forde seeing the benefits of any of it?

Every credible economist has been scathing of their Budget.

Their spending has been lifted by $315 billion.

Do you feel richer for it?

What we need is a back-to-basics economic plan.

Last Monday I welcomed our opposition leader, Peter Dutton MP, and shadow finance minister, Senator the Hon Jane Hume, into Beenleigh.

Both were eager to meet with locals and find out how the Budget would help them in their daily lives, if at all.

We spent the morning chatting with Candice and Brad at their Bannockburn rental.

Their dream of home ownership has become “more of a dream than a reality” under Labor’s authority, they said.

Local business owners joined us for a Budget Forum, where many voiced rising concerns and frustrations.

What we could all agree on, we need to get Australia back-on-track.
