Well-known business couple Nicki and Milly Christensen have this week announced their new Southside Flower Market, a place where people will be able to browse for flowers direct from the wholesaler.
Logan-based Flowerhub has been taking online orders for more than two years, and ships produce throughout the country at prices lower than retail.
“Some people prefer to use more of their senses to experience the flowers by sight, touch and smell,” Mr Christensen said of the new marketplace, which is set to officially launch May 8.
“The only option the people of Logan City, Southside Brisbaneites and Gold Coasters have if they want to source flowers for their DIY events or homes is to shop at the supermarkets, or drive across town to the centralised market, fighting traffic and congestion the whole way.
“Now that we have opened the Southside Flower Market right here in Slacks Creek, Logan City people can save up to an hour of travel on a return trip for people wanting to shop at a flower market. Now they can pull straight in off the M1, shop the flowers and get going again and not be stuck in horrendous cross-town traffic.”
He said the market would focus on value, freshness and variety of choice, with flowers sourced from up to 100 flower suppliers.
There would also be a heavy focus on Australian Grown Flowers.
“Whenever we can source locally-grown products we will stock those and make them available to the people of the Southside,” Mr Christensen said.
“There’s nothing better than seeing the grower drop off flowers, such as sunflowers that have only just been picked that morning out the back of the Scenic Rim, and going to customers that very same afternoon. It just doesn’t get any fresher than that.”
