Justis Huni returns to the boxing ring tonight on the Gold Coast, less than a month after his second-round knockout win in Brisbane.
The short turnaround is a ‘dream come true’ for Huni, who wanted to increase his activity in 2025.
“It’s exactly what I wanted, to stay busy and to get those fights under my belt,” he said.
“So I’m just happy it’s gone to plan.”
Huni will take on South African Shaun Potgeiter in a co-main fight for the IBF Pan Pacific & WBO Global Heavyweight title.
The fight card features a host of Polynesian and Australian fighters including Ben Mahoney, Teremona Jnr and IBF & RING Magazine Cruiserweight undefeated champion Jai Opetaia who is taking on the undefeated David Nyika.
Huni has been training and sparring with Opetaia in the lead-up to tonight’s card which he believes is going to be a ‘massive’ fight.
“I think this fight, Nyika versus Opetaia, was bound to happen at some point,” he said.
“I’m just grateful I get to be a part of it.”
In the lead up to his fight, Huni wants to keep the ball rolling for 2025.
“Hopefully I stay injury-free and get at least three or four fights in a year,” he said.
“That’ll be a good 2025 for me and just keep moving from there.”
The fight card will be streamed through the DAZN app with the preliminary card starting at 5pm AEST.
