Logan country artist Briana Dinsdale is on a similar path that led Keith Urban, Lee Kerhaghan and Gina Jeffreys to fame.
Ms Dinsdale will compete in the Star Maker Top Ten, a competition that brings together rising stars from throughout the country at the Tamworth Music Festival each year.
Ms Dinsdale, who has been writing music since she was 10, said it was a “dream come true” to represent her hometown on a historic stage.
“I was absolutely thrilled and honoured when I found out to be recognised on such a prestigious platform for Australian country artists,” she said.
“I have been watching the competition from the audience since I was 15 years old, so to finally have the opportunity to compete for the title is amazing.”
The chance to challenge herself and connect with the Tamworth audience inspired her to enter the competition.
“Tamworth has always felt like the heart of country music in Australia, so I’m looking forward to feeling the energy of the crowd and seeing how my songs resonate with them,” she said.
“It also allows me to showcase my growth and learn more about myself as an artist.”
Following in the footsteps of some of Australia’s biggest country artists can be nerve-racking for some, but Ms Dinsdale feels like she has a responsibility for country music.
“They’ve paved the way for so many artists, showing what’s possible when you combine talent, hard work, and passion,” she said.
“It’s a reminder of the responsibility that comes with being a country artist—to honour the genre’s traditions while also bringing something fresh and personal to the table.
“These legends have set the bar high, and knowing I could contribute to their legacy motivates me to give my absolute best and continue growing as an artist.”
Regardless of the outcome on 19 January, Ms Dinsdale is looking forward to what is on the horizon.
“I’m heading to Nashville in June to write and record new music with some amazing songwriters,” she said.
“I am also going to be playing a heap of shows across Australia in the new year as well.”
