Can you believe Christmas is less than a week away already?
With 2023 rapidly coming to a close and many in our local community getting ready to take a well-earned break over the Christmas and New Year period, it is a good time to take stock and reflect on the year that was.
For my office and the electorate of Forde, it was definitely a big year.
Over the course of 2023 I held my regular mobile offices and cuppas across the electorate – meeting with and listening with so many residents, about the issues that matter most to you.
Each month my local catch ups focus on a specific area around the electorate, and they are set to continue next year, so keep an eye out for invites hitting your mailboxes in 2024.
In June, I held my first ever Forde Family Expo at the Beenleigh Showgrounds.
Over 3,000 residents came out to experience the rides, stalls and information for young families on offer, over the course of the day.
Thank you to JQ Teddy Bears Picnic, all of the wonderful businesses and organisations who sponsored the expo and those took part or came down to check out the event, in helping to make it a such a successful day.
September brought with it my annual Seniors’ Expo, which I know is a date pencilled in early on calendars and looked forward to by many residents.
This year saw another terrific turnout, with the Shadow Minister for Health, Senator the Hon Anne Ruston, and Shadow Assistant Minister for Health, Gavin Pearce MP, our guest speakers.
I am pleased to say that both expos will return again in 2024.
After such an eventful year I hope everyone is able to rest, relax and be with family and friends as we gather to celebrate Christmas and look forward to the start of another year.
On behalf of my staff, family, and myself I wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy Christmas.
I hope that 2024 is a successful and enjoyable year for everyone in Logan and my electorate of Forde.
