A safe and happy holiday season

It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through December and 2024 is just around the corner.

This year has been a busy one for Council and we’ve worked hard to deliver vital improvements that make our city an even better place to live.

Earlier this year, we delivered a responsible budget that focused on providing value-for-money and maintaining our high levels of service.

We also finalised the first draft of the new planning scheme, Logan Plan 25, which will guide growth over the next 20 years.

We’ve delivered upgrades to the facilities that matter most to our community, including our leisure centres, parks, and community spaces.

And we honoured the community members who work tirelessly to make our city a fantastic place at our annual Australia Day Awards and Volunteer Awards. We also acknowledged our sporting stars at the Sports Awards.

Vital works are continuing on our roads with key upgrades and resurfacing taking place across the city, including busy Loganlea Road.

More recently, we entered into the next stage of preparations for a proposed indoor sports venue in Logan Central that will leave a lasting legacy of active and healthy lifestyles in the city beyond the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As everyone starts to turn their attention towards the holiday season, I encourage the community to look out for one another.

If you are getting behind the wheel this festive season, please make safety a priority.

Whether you are a motorist, motorbike rider, cyclist, scooter rider or pedestrian, we all have a role to play to ensure everyone gets home safely this holiday season.

I also encourage everyone to check in on their loved ones, friends and neighbours as the holidays can be a difficult time of year for some members of our community.

Residents can access Logan City Council’s essential services throughout the holidays, although hours of operation may change at some venues.

More information about Council’s services over coming weeks can be found at logan.qld.gov.au.

On behalf of Council and our Councillors, I wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year period, and a healthy and prosperous 2024.
