Christmas card competition

Each year I send out my Christmas card to the wonderful people across Forde, wishing them a very safe and enjoyable break over the Christmas and New Year period.

My annual Christmas card drawing competition invites all primary schools in the electorate to encourage their students in submitting their Christmas designs, with the winner featured on the Christmas card that I send out.

This year we had an incredible number of participants—182 students from 11 different schools in my electorate sent in their drawings.

It was no small task in determining this year’s winner, with so many creative entries being submitted.

However, after pouring over all of the incredibly well-designed submissions for quite some time, there was one entry which stood out.

The winner of this year’s Forde Christmas Card Competition is Molly from Loganholme State School.

Her drawing is truly fantastic, and her creativity will be on display to over 100,000 people in and around the Logan City Council area and the Northern Gold Coast region.

I would like to extend my congratulations to Molly, along with the following highly commended award recipients:

  • Kayden from Pimpama State School
  • Asher from Highland Reserve State School
  • Mason from Loganholme State School
  • Gabby from Norfolk Village State School
  • Sarah from Mount Warren Park State School
  • Imogen from Kimberly College.

It’s fair to say that there is no lack of creativity and talent amongst the primary school students in Forde.

Molly’s winning entry, along with my 2024 calendar will be hitting mailboxes in Forde from next week, so keep an eye out for her wonderful work.

To each and every student who took the time to participate in the competition and submit their design, thank you very much.

I am already looking forward to seeing what exciting submissions next year’s competition will bring.

Last, but not least – I cannot complete this column without also highlighting the work of the teachers from the schools across Forde who helped facilitate this competition, thank you very much, and Merry Christmas to all!
