About 16 million people across the world volunteer for them, yet not many people in Logan know that they exist, I am talking about the Red Cross Beenleigh Branch.
Sadly, when most of us need help, or feel like we want to donate to a charity, we think of the larger, more well publicised groups like The Salvation Army, Vinnies or Lifeline. Which means the Red Cross Beenleigh Branch go unnoticed.
So it was my pleasure to sit in with the Red Cross Beenleigh team of volunteers for their Annual General Meeting listening to some of the ways we as a wider community can offer our further assistance for their group well into the future.
One thing that I learnt was that the Red Cross helps Queenslanders stay mobile by offering them affordable and reliable mobility aids and equipment from a variety of locations and that includes from their Beenleigh Showgrounds Office.
Barbara and her team of thirteen volunteers absolutely love what they do and assisting their community, and giving back is at the top of their mind with around 50-60 people a week coming into the store seeking some form of assistance…….
