Earlier this week my team had the pleasure in joining Threads Together at the Bethania Community Centre.
Their mission is simple to deliver new, good quality clothing and shoes to people in the community who are doing it tough.
They recognise that most Australians don’t have access to a warm winter jumper, comfortable or waterproof shoes or even a pair of clean underwear.
Currently they are the only organisation in Australia whose focus is to source new and excess clothing from fashion retailers and redistribute the items to those in our communities that need it most.
More than 20 Australian fashion retailers continue to donate their excess stock to this great cause.
This has resulted in tonnes of new clothing being diverted from landfill to date. Threads Together have distributed over $8 million worth of new clothing to the most vulnerable in our community over the past five years.
Currently Threads Together are supporting people experiencing homelessness, youth at risk, Indigenous communities, survivors of domestic violence, refugees, and the long term unemployed.
This is an amazing service for the community I would like to thank both Bethania Community Centre and Threads Together for bringing this to my community.
