Don’t let others fool you – when it comes to beating COVID-19, we are in a race. We’re in the race of our lives.
And our best bet to win this race? Getting vaccinated.
That’s why I recently joined Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young, Logan MP Linus Power and Member for Springwood Mick de Brenni, and Logan multicultural leaders for a COVID-19 vaccination drive at Logan Entertainment Centre.
Our community and state are strongest when we are united, and by improving understanding around vaccines and health directives we’ll increase vaccination rates and reduce time spent in lockdowns.
Since being set up in early June, our Logan vaccination hub has seen the delivery of more than 50,000 vaccine doses.
With supply now increasing, our aim is to be doing around 3500 doses a day in Logan by the end of this month.
It gives me immense pride to see so many local residents rolling up their sleeves and getting vaccinated, protecting themselves, their loved ones and others.
I’m especially grateful for the uptake across our multicultural communities, and appreciate the work of those getting the message out there and answering questions that explain Australia’s vaccine program.
To provide the best possible service at the Logan vaccination hub, we have an interpreter phone service available on site at all times.
We’re also prioritising the most vulnerable members of our community, including the elderly and First Nations peoples.
All Queenslanders aged 16 and over can now register to be vaccinated via the Queensland Health website.
The faster we’re all vaccinated, the sooner we can put this pandemic in the rearview, so please, if you haven’t registered, do it today.
The life we’re living in Queensland right now is unique compared to southern states, with minimal restrictions on business, schools, and the community at large – and we want to keep it that way.
We’re enjoying freedoms that millions of Australians currently don’t have, and it’s only possible because of the hard work of the citizens of Logan, and millions of other Queenslanders.
These past 18 months have been anything but predictable, but one constant we’ve seen is Queenslanders standing tall in this time of need.
So thank you for continuing to follow the health advice, for masking up and being tested, and for getting vaccinated.
