Inaugural Jimboomba Festival promised fun and fireworks

A major new family festival is heading to Jimboomba, with organisers promising three days of food, rides, entertainment and community festivities.

The inaugural Jimboomba Festival will take place at Jimboomba Hills College.

Rain has prompted organisers to reschedule the event to run over three days from Friday 11 December to Sunday 13 December.

It was previously planned for Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November.

The event will bring together gourmet food vendors, carnival rides, market stalls, fireworks and live entertainment in what organisers hope will become a highlight of the local events calendar.

Festival organiser Michael Marrawi said the event was designed to give families a fun and affordable day out close to home.

“It’s going to be great. We’re having children’s rides, fireworks, live music and cinema,” Mr Marrawi said.

The festival will feature a wide range of attractions, including food and dessert trucks, sideshow games, showbags, roaming entertainment, classic cars and family activities throughout the weekend.

Food will play a major role in the event, with visitors able to sample a variety of cuisines and festival favourites.

“A bunch of creators will be showing up to do food tastings and we’re giving away a bunch of unlimited rides wristbands and food vouchers for the public,” Mr Marrawi said.

The event comes as many families continue to feel the impact of rising living costs, an issue organisers say was front of mind during planning.

“The cost of living has been pretty hard for everybody over the past couple of months,” Mr Marrawi said.

“Fuel prices have been crazy, so transportation has been hard and there are a lot of families where parents would like to take their kids out, but sometimes that’s not possible because of prices.”

To help make the festival accessible, organisers will offer discounted pre-sale tickets and unlimited ride wristbands, alongside a range of giveaways during the event.

Mr Marrawi said creating a festival that local families could enjoy without travelling long distances was a priority.

The festival is also expected to provide opportunities for local businesses, community organisations and charities to showcase their products and services while connecting with residents.

“We have a bunch of sponsors from the community working with the event to support their local community,” Mr Marrawi said.

“We’re also getting in touch with charities and doing our part to help out the community.”

Mr Marrawi said the decision to bring the festival to Jimboomba was influenced by the organisers’ existing connections within the area and their familiarity with the region.

“It’s a great place and we’re familiar with working with Logan City Council and the team at Jimboomba Hills College. It was a good place for us to start with,” Mr Marrawi said.

With plenty of visitors expected across the three days, organisers are hoping the festival will become an annual tradition for families across Jimboomba, Logan and surrounding communities.

Whether visitors come for the food, the rides, the entertainment or the fireworks, Mr Marrawi believes the event will offer something for everyone.

Jimboomba Festival will be held at Jimboomba Hills College from 30 October to 1 November. Information about tickets, ride passes and event updates is available through the festival’s official website.
