Pet Pamper Shed at Yarrabilba has been growing in the past few months, welcoming its first work experience student and opening new locations at Beaudesert and Stapylton.
Owner Jessica Trenear has been running the business for the past few years and has attracted a loyal customer base.
Before working in the pet grooming industry, Mrs Trenear was a veterinary nurse for almost 10 years doing, helping vets with animal x-rays and dental cleans.
“I’ve always been a pet lover, literally sleeping under the house with my dogs and cats when I was little,” Mrs Trenear said.
The move into pet grooming was prompted by wanting to work at home to be closer to her son.
The job has come with its challenges, as Mrs Trenear suffered from pregnancy related carpal tunnel.
She said the issue was widespread across the industry, since pet groomers wriggle their wrist while blow drying animals.
Wanting to give back to the community, the Yarrabilba salon recently welcomed its first work experience student for a week.
Mrs Trenear said Lachlan was a great addition to the team and loved the experience.
The dog pictured in the photo is Mrs Trenear’s schnauzer whose coat she hand stripped, taking three and a half hours.
Hand stripping is important for wire-coated breeds like schnauzers that develop coarse coats.
The process involves plucking dead, loose hair manually from the hair follicle rather than cutting it.
Hand stripping is a specialised technique and is best performed by experienced pet groomers.
Mrs Trenear is a multi-award-winning pet groomer, winning the Salon Freestyle Intermediate Class category at the Mini Pup Cup Dog Grooming Competition in 2022.
She also won three 2nd place awards at The Pet Show Brisbane Grooming Competition in 2024.
This recognition extends to the business too, with Pet Pamper Shed winning the Logan Business Distinction Awards in the Vet and Animal Services category in 2024 and 2025.
