The residents of Berrinba now have access to their first ever local bus service.
From 26 May, eight new bus stops will be added to bus route 547, connecting Berrinba’s residential and industrial areas to the broader bus network.
In a media release, Translink said the number of bus services in Logan would double with 138 new weekly trips – running every half hour in peak hours – added to the route 547 timetable.
Weekend services running hourly have also been introduced for the first time.
Deborah Hume, Head of Translink, said the additional stops and restoration of route 547 would have a positive impact on the community.
“The construction of eight new bus stops and improvements to Route 547 are targeted investments that will have a big impact on public transport access in the area,” she said.
The upgrades to route 547 are only part of the first stage public transport access boosts for Logan residents.
“Logan is growing fast, and it’s important we match that growth by increasing public transport connections,” Ms Hume said.
Route 547 operates between Woodridge Station and Browns Plains via Drewvale. Two stops will be removed from the previous route, one on Wembley Road, the other on Faisal Hatia Way.
In December last year, 474 new weekly bus trips were added to the Logan bus route on services including 534, 535, 540, 542, 551, 561, and 587. According to Translink data, passenger numbers have increased by 67 percent on Route 587 and 29 percent on Route 534 as a result of the upgrade in bus services.
New bus stops have been introduced this year on Route 578 and Route 541.
Further changes to Logan’s public transportation systems are expected to continue into 2026, which will aim to increase public transport service availability to 25,000 residents.
“Even more upgrades are planned for Logan as we plan a better bus network to support growing communities now and in the future,” Ms Hume said.
