The final years of school can feel like standing on the edge of something new—steady ground behind you and uncharted possibilities ahead—but at Parklands Christian College, students take that step with expert guidance beside them. Through a rich mix of on-campus certificate courses and school-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SATs), the College helps Years 10-12 learners test-drive industries, earn national qualifications and build CV-ready experience before they even cross the graduation stage. Guided by Head of Careers and VET Mrs Elizabeth Lenton, seniors can blend ATAR studies with real-world training—turning today’s curiosity into tomorrow’s career clarity.
Rhianne | Year 11 | Certificate III in Early Childhood Education (SAT)
Following in her sister’s footsteps, Rhianne now spends part of each week in an early-learning centre, studying child development while guiding little learners through milestone moments. Balancing placement hours with schoolwork has sharpened her organisational skills and confirmed her calling: she plans to stay in early childhood, progressing to diploma or degree studies after Year 12.
Zachariah | Year 12 | Cert III in Business (SAT with Greenbank Services Club)
A social-media post—and a nudge from family friends—sparked Zachariah’s journey. Passionate about tourism, he saw hospitality as a runway to his dream of owning international resorts. Formal training with CTA Training Specialists meets hands-on shifts at Greenbank Services Club, sharpening his customer-service instincts and business acumen. “Creating a relaxing space for guests and seeing the impact on their day is the best feeling,” he says. Next up: a university degree in International Hotel & Resort Management and, eventually, properties across Australia and Asia.
Ben | Year 12 | Certificate III in Business
Entrepreneurship runs in Ben’s blood—his father built a company from scratch—so enrolling in the on-campus business certificate felt natural. Modules on marketing, finance and workplace safety unearthed hidden strengths in time-management and client care. Long assessments tested his perseverance, but setting strict personal deadlines kept him on track. Ben now plans tertiary study in economics and finance as the first step toward launching his own enterprise.
Miah | Year 12 | Certificate II/III in Hospitality
An older friend’s rave reviews convinced Miah to trade the traditional classroom for coffee machines and commercial kitchens. The fast-paced program has taught her to collaborate with a wide range of personalities and juggle multiple responsibilities. “I love being a trained barista—latte art lets me be creative every shift,” she says. Hospitality has opened her eyes to one day owning a café of her own.
