Music industry experts will put their heads together alongside bureaucrats to develop the city’s first Music Action Plan.
The plan aims to enhance the live music scene in the City of Logan by finding ways to collaborate with local venues, artists and businesses.
The live music scene has been one of the hardest hit by Covid restrictions.
There will be two surveys, one for the community and another for the industry, and although there is no closing date on the survey, council says these will be part of a consultation process guided by industry expert Craig Spann.
Mr Spann is a writer and artist who grew up in Beenleigh, has developed government strategies and projects to support the music industry while co-managing an independent record label and music company.
He is planning workshops, a local industry forum and one-on-one meetings with artists, venues and those locally who work in the sector.
Lifestyle chair Laurie Koranski said the industry was a major driver of jobs and investment in the community.
“Logan City Council has hosted our Logan Live celebration of music since 2018 to foster and promote local talent,” Cr Koranski said.
“We are proud to support new and emerging talent.”
