A group of local high school students are sleeping rough on the Beenleigh tennis courts to raise money and awareness for the most vulnerable in Logan.
Junior Quota Beenleigh members are inviting Logan’s young people to join them in their mission this Friday 24 May.
“It’s to raise money and awareness for youth programs, and we have speakers coming to broaden knowledge about homelessness and the prevention of it,” Year 10 student Ashlee Whatmore said.
“It’s my first year, but Quota has been doing this for a few years.
“We usually have quite a few people come, and lots of donations from adults.
“We’ve raised quite a bit so far because people are raising money by doing sausage sizzles at schools and we’re getting donations from parents and teachers.
“We’re just trying to raise as much as we can.”
The sleepout is on this Friday 24 May from 6pm to 8am the next morning.
“Everything is locked up and you have wristbands, so everything is monitored, and we know who comes in and out,” Miss Whatmore said.
The event is for students and young adults.

The theme for the night is superheroes and villains.
