Kindness has always been Tammy Robinson-Heynatz’s motto. Now it’s her title.
The Beenleigh local has been named Queensland’s kindest person, recognised for her charity Formally Ever After, which gifts free formalwear to those in need.
The charity began in 2019 to help one student attend their Year 12 formal, and has grown into a movement that has dressed more than 9000 people.
It is run entirely from her home at Beenleigh home and powered by community donations.
“My big motto with Formally Ever After is ‘kindness is free’,” Ms Robinson-Heynatz said.
“I love that we can spread kindness in everything we do. Kindness ripples.”
Ms Robinson-Heynatz was selected as a Queensland finalist from hundreds of nominations nationwide before being voted the state winner.
She now goes on to represent Queensland in the national search for Australia’s kindest person, with the overall winner to be announced on World Kindness Day, 13 November.
Last year, Eagleby’s Pamela Tatt won the Queensland title for her decades-long work knitting and crocheting gifts for vulnerable Australians – meaning Logan has now held the state’s “kindest” title two years running.
Ms Robinson-Heynatz said she felt humbled to be recognised among “so many selfless, kind and inspiring” nominees.
“Kindness can be anything from saying ‘you look beautiful today’ to offering to help others,” she said.
“For me, kindness has always been the norm — because I know how it feels when people aren’t kind. We should think before we speak, and speak with love.”
