Crestmead-based Beenleigh Steel Fabrications will supercharge its manufacturing capabilities and create nearly 60 new jobs at its new $4.2 million facility at Berrinba.
The facility was partly supported by the state government and Member for Woodridge and Treasurer Cameron Dick said it would help fund the construction and fit-out of Beenleigh Steel’s new greenfield site.
“By doubling Beenleigh Steel Fabrications’ floorspace and allowing for increased production capacity, we’re fast-tracking the company’s growth and creating more jobs for Logan,” Mr Dick said.
The local company has been involved with construction of major projects, including Townsville Stadium where tomorrow night’s State of Origin will be.
“This new facility will see almost 60 new local jobs delivered for our city over the next five years, employment crucial to our ongoing COVID economic recovery,” Mr Dick said.
“Beenleigh Steel have been operating in Crestmead since 1980 and have developed a strong market niche in architectural steel fabrications for major construction projects Australia-wide.
“We’re talking stadiums, bridges, hospitals, army barracks, and massive Queensland projects like Cross River Rail, Queens Wharf and the Jubilee Centre.
“Securing these big contracts means the company is anticipating future business growth at more than double its historical levels.”
Mr Dick said the expansion would create more job opportunities for Logan workers, apprentices and trainees.
Beenleigh Steel Fabrications Director Anthony Stoeckert said the new facility would help the company expand for another 40 years.
“This project will boost Queensland’s steel fabrication capabilities and help enhance our standing as a jobs-creating powerhouse and major manufacturing hub for the nation,” Mr Stoeckert said.
