Safety vital for wellbeing

Feeling safe in our community is vital for our overall health and wellbeing. Whether you are at home, at work or out in the community you can count on the hardworking policemen and women of the Logan community who risk their lives every day to ensure our safety. But they cannot do this alone.

For over a decade the Queensland Police Service’s (QPS) non-urgent contact point, Policelink, has been servicing the community. It has become the primary contact point for Queenslanders enhancing the ability of the QPS to respond to non-urgent reports and policing advice in a professional and timely manner.

So how do you know when to report a crime to Policelink? A non-urgent report is a crime that doesn’t require a police officer to attend to as a priority. These include wilful property damage (e.g. graffiti), break and enter, stealing offences, stolen vehicles, and lost property (e.g. lost phone, wallet, jewellery etc).

The QPS have made it even more accessible for residents to report to Policelink. You can call the Policelink line on 131 444, report online via their website (http://www.policelink.qld.gov.au/), or by using the Policelink App. The Policelink app has been revolutionary in how we report crimes allowing you to report photographs and/or video captured directly through the App.

By contacting the QPS through Policelink for non-urgent matters you are giving frontline police officers the best chance of preventing serious crimes from escalating. As a community we can all work together to keep each other safe.
