Residents of Ingenia Gardens Marsden recently dug deep for the paw people, putting a woof over their heads, pants on their legs, and raising awareness fur a good cause.
They dressed their dogs, ate cupcakes and socialised their way to a total fundraising effort of $521.30.
The group of retirees were celebrating RSPCA Cupcake Day.
About 15% of the Ingenia Gardens Marsden community own pets and organisers said everyone was passionate about fundraising and raising awareness for the organisation.
“They gain such important friendship and companionship, especially during Covid-19, from their pets who are like their family,” a spokesperson for the village said.
Australia has one of the highest pet ownership rates in the world.
The charity day was to help rescue, treat and rehome animals which have been mistreated.
Money also helps keep the doors to RSPCA shelters and veterinary hospitals open, keeps inspectors on the road to investigate animal cruelty, provides emergency veterinary care to injured animals and allows the RSPCA to prosecute people who have been cruel to animals.
