Logan police and community organisations have joined forces for an event aimed at raising awareness about domestic and family violence.
The Logan Prevention and Engagement Unit held its annual Tenacity event on Tuesday 26 May, bringing Queensland Police Service officers, Police Liaison Officers and community members together for information, support and conversation about ending the cycle of domestic and family violence.
More than 35 organisation stallholders took part in the event, with about 500 community members attending.
The event included performances from the Queensland Police Band of Blue and Pipes and Drums, cultural song and dance performances from three local state schools, raffle prizes, a free sausage sizzle and coffee.
Police Liaison Officers helped engage with the community throughout the day.
Police Liaison Officers work as a link between QPS officers and culturally specific communities, helping share information about Queensland laws, policing services and community safety while also advising police on cultural issues.
The May newsletter also highlighted Logan Police Liaison Officers’ involvement in several community events, including the Logan TAFE Multicultural Collaborative Health and Wellbeing Expo, a Neighbourhood Watch Family Fun Day at Ewing Park, Mayfair at John Paul College and the launch of Logan’s first school laundry service at Berrinba East State School.
