Your recent article about Louise Poole’s new podcast (MyCity Logan, February 1-7) was inspiration to me.
I have suffered from anxiety and depression just like Louise, and I feel that if she can bring herself to talk about her “dark, deep secrets” as you call them, then I too should be able to speak up.
People who haven’t been through mental health issues try to understand how it happens. But the only people who truly know the feelings and thoughts that go with it are those who’ve been in the same situation.
The podcast helps not only those who’ve been through mental health issues. It helps educate those who haven’t.
While it’s great that we’re now able to talk about mental health as an illness, and not a personality quirk, we’ve still got a way to go before it’s truly understood.
We are however, on the right path. And that’s positive for everyone.
Well done, Louise. Your work isn’t going unnoticed.
