It was interesting to read Timothy McNiven’s email in your publication dated December 21-28, under the heading “No support for lights”, relating to the “Mexican standoff ” where he states he only just found out about the proposed installation of traffic lights at this junction in Bethania.
I was notified of the proposal, including a layout of the intended traffic lights, via Logan Council Letter dated February 4, 2021Â (copy of letter and traffic light layout supplied).
I would have presumed most local residents would have also been similarly notified of the proposal and traffic light layout.
I would add I have lived in this area for a number of decades and have been aware of some small crashes and mishaps, most would have been attributed to failing to give way and inattention.
I have never been involved in any of the so-called mishaps, having used the junction 2-4 times a day.
All I hope that the sequencing of the lights doesn’t cause a major holdup of local traffic., then I would be very vocal to the council.
I love this local newspaper, very informative. Thanks.
Gordon Shorthouse,
