BEENLEIGH State High School draws from its connections to instill great leadership.
The school has forged wonderful partnerships with numerous community organisations, and the relationships are often to provide role models to students.
Acting principal George Bartlett said great connections helped impose a commitment to high academic ethos, but also paved the way for students to step seamlessly into the workforce.
Celebrity chef Matt Golinski leads the school’s kitchen for the always-sold out Paddock to Plate lunch, and there are a multitude of other well-known business identities lend their knowledge at the school.
“It’s all about creating pathways for students to make their way from school into the workforce,” Mr Bartlett said.
“We have a terrific bunch of leaders this year and we expect it will be one of high academic achievement.
“The entire school community would like to congratulate the new leaders as they are inducted into their roles over coming weeks.”
Despite the difficulties that Covid-19 has created over the past two years, students have shown that they can rise to every challenge, stand strong and leave their own unique stamp on Beenleigh State High School.
Beenleigh High has been a mainstay in the community since 1963. The school opened to meet what was then a growing need in the community for secondary education.
Since that time, nestled on a former farm that ran down to the banks of the Albert River, the school has witnessed tremendous change demographically, economically and industrially. But the school has remained at the forefront of education in the region.
Academically, the school has consistently performed well giving students the opportunity to achieve their goals, and it is expected this year will be no different with a phenomenal cohort of students coming through the year levels.
Underlying these results is outstanding teaching practice embedded in the school.
There’s the innovative school designed program “Operation ComMANdo” aimed at refocussing disengaged students to become higher performing students by building self-confidence and esteem. Every student is catered for!
Linking students to the world of work is core to the school’s motto of Semper Altiora (Aim Higher) and Beenleigh High has an outstanding program of school based traineeships and apprenticeships.
The Senior Schooling Hub has over 150 students participating in a broad range of programs aimed at preparing students for the world of work.
Adding rich depth to each student’s skillset is the school’s outstanding program, Micro Credentials, where each student can build a learner profile in a digital platform that showcases their skills as an individual.
And when students leave Beenleigh High they can stay in touch through our “Link and Launch” program that connects post-school students to a world of opportunity.
Caring is also a core element of school programs and our Student Council raises funds for a number of causes each year, especially working with McDonalds Beenleigh to support our families in need with children in hospital over the past five years.
