One of the most-loved “police” in the Logan area has retired after 8.5 years in the service.
Police dog Alex was given an extra big pat last week, having been acquired by Queensland Police Service in 2013 from a Victorian breeder, and now put into well-earned retirement.
Alex commenced full time training at the beginning of 2015 with Senior Constable Michael Silman and by mid-year the team were a fully accredited general purpose dog team.
The team began their partnership in Mt Isa but moved to Logan District Dog Squad in 2019.
Alex, still in excellent health, will now stay at the home of Senior Constable Silman and his family where it is expected he’ll be “spoilt rotten”.
