Park Ridge State High School has been named Australia’s top government secondary school, earning national recognition for years of work to lift learning, attendance and achievement.
The Logan school won the A Team Tuition Secondary School of the Year – Government award at the 2026 Australian Education Awards in Sydney.
Executive principal Sharon Amos said the result proved location was no barrier to excellence.
“It’s not about where you are. Logan has amazing potential, and we can compete with anyone, even nationally,” Ms Amos said.
She said the award reflected years of work by students, teaching and support staff, families and community partners.
“The award is a real recognition of the many years of hard work across the whole school,” she said.
Park Ridge’s approach centres on what it calls a “versatile education for a versatile world”, with a strong focus on curiosity, critical thinking and multiple pathways beyond school.
“Our students are excited and passionate thinkers,” Ms Amos said.
“They know when to challenge and make risks, as they are not afraid of making mistakes.”
Ms Amos and Head of Mathematics Rebecca Isakson were also finalists in individual award categories for the second consecutive year.
But Ms Amos said the national title was not the end point.
“As exciting as our journey has been, as great as the distance we’ve gone, we still believe we are just at the beginning,” she said.
She thanked students “for showing up, for trying, for being kind and passionate young community people”.
