The coronavirus pandemic has hit businesses hard and I know that many local Logan businesses have been greatly affected especially by the recent South East Queensland lockdown. The Federal Government understands the challenges business have been facing, this is why we have entered into a 50/50 funding agreement with the Queensland Government that will see the value of the Queensland COVID-19 Business Support Grants rise from $260 million to $600 million!
This boost in support will not only help businesses that have been affected by recent lockdowns in South East Queensland but those who continue to feel the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Key components of the funding agreement are:
- A $1,000 one-off grant to non-employing sole traders across Queensland that have had a decline in turnover of more than 30 per cent.
- Support for all employing businesses across Queensland, that have had a decline in turnover of more than 30 per cent:
- A $5,000 one-off, top-up grant to small business with payroll of less than $1.3 million;
- A $10,000 one-off, top-up grant to medium sized business with payroll between $1.3 million and $10 million;
- A $25,000 one-off, top-up grant to large sized tourism and hospitality focused businesses only with payroll of greater than $10 million.
This jointly funded package will provide much-needed relief for businesses in Logan. keeping businesses in business, and local people in jobs. I want to assure Logan residents that our support through the pandemic has never been a ‘set and forget’ and it will continue to adjust as we meet the ongoing challenges of COVID-19. I strongly encourage all business in Logan who continue to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic to apply for the COVID-19 Business Support Grants available.
