Opinion – Young business leaders shaping our future

Recently Macalister’s own Club Beenleigh had the pleasure of hosting the Young Business Leaders Showcase Breakfast.
This featured local secondary students proudly presenting their end products that were developed as part of this year’s Young Business Leaders Program.

The quality and vast array of products and services showcased was impressive to say the least.
However, in addition to that was the significant level of confidence, creativity and determination delivered by the students.
Over the course of a school term, these young entrepreneurs transformed simple ideas
into real business ventures, learning valuable skills in planning, marketing, budgeting, problem-solving and customer service along the way.

The Young Business Leaders Program, an initiative of the Beenleigh Yatala Junior Chamber of Commerce, gives students from Years 7 to 12 the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship and develop practical business skills that will benefit them long into the future.
With guidance from the team at BOP Industries, students are encouraged to think outside the box, embrace innovation and turn their passions into opportunities.

As Australia’s workforce continues to evolve, programs like this are becoming increasingly important.
Small businesses make up more than 97% of Australian businesses, and entrepreneurial thinking is a skill that will serve young people regardless of the career path they choose.
Whether they go on to run their own business, pursue higher education or enter the workforce, these students are building confidence, resilience and adaptability that will help
them succeed.

Seeing so many passionate and motivated young people was incredibly inspiring.
Their willingness to challenge themselves, take risks and bring their ideas to life gives me great confidence in the future of our community.

Congratulations to all the students who participated, as well as the award winners, teachers, mentors, volunteers, and organisers who made this program possible.
Your support is helping to nurture the next generation of business owners, innovators and community leaders.

To every student involved – keep dreaming big, keep working hard and keep believing in your ideas.
The future is bright and there’s no doubt that many of the businesses and leaders of tomorrow were already standing proudly behind those stalls.
