LOGAN and Queensland seems to have again dodged a Covid bullet.
The Slacks Creek scare hasn’t spread as it might have, and again, restrictions have been eased in order for local business to again take charge and re-stimulate the economy.
While the stop-start nature of modern-day business is difficult to manage, it is time to get on with things in vaccinated world.
Sadly, Logan was deemed to have three of the hot spots where vaccination levels are lagging. Apathy is simply not an option.
Regardless, so begins the journey – a path to recovery that creates jobs, drives social interaction, and allows the majority a freedom to be part of an active community.
Most states are mapping a path to recovery, and that will in al llikelihood entail requirements for the majority to respect the right to be safe.
Yes, there will be choices. And it remains to be seen what the naturally-occurring consequences of those choices will be.
This week, unlike those in New South Wales and Victoria, we’ll be enjoying the Cane Parade at Beenleigh. There will be events and festivals and music for us all to enjoy.
Never should we take our freedoms for granted, and always should we take care of those around us.
Let’s hope that organisations which rely on the services of volunteers will soon welcome back their brigades in droves as we move into a world that simply lives with Covid.
That will see a greater level of care for those who are doing it tough. It will see a greater bond between neighbours.
