Road blackspots at Shailer Park, Chambers Flat and Park Ridge are set to become safer after planned roadworks.
A program to identify blackspots led to federal government funding.
The intersection of Clarke Rd and Lindenthal Rd at Park Ridge would get new lights, as would the intersection of Chambers Flat Rd and School Rd.
The pavement of Chambers Flat Road (from Pleasant View Rd to Kenny Rd) would be sealed and new signage installed, along with new crash barriers and lighting at the bridge.
The intersection of Mandew St and Leda Drive at Shailer Park will get lights to turn right, CCTV for traffic management, a new signal for the left slip lane onto Mandew St, and adjusted pram ramps for pedestrians.
The total cost of works would be more than $2.5 million, funded under the 2021-22 Black Spot Program.
Member for Forde Bert van Manen said community input was critical to identifying key black spots.
“Road crashes place major emotional and economic strains on all affected communities but particularly the families and friends of the victims,” he said.
“None of these projects would be delivered without the community’s vital input and I encourage all residents and motorists in the region to nominate projects for future funding rounds.”
Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said there were 67 black spot projects across Queensland which would make an important contribution towards reducing serious injuries and deaths.
“This new funding will see total investment through the Black Spot Program in Queensland rise to $189.2 million, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to improving road safety,” he said.
